Elizabeth Douglass Shorey Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Elizabeth Douglass Shorey Endowed Scholarship Fund was created in 1981 to support the training of nursing students in the Rush College of Nursing.

The scholarship was established by Mrs. Shorey and her family to honor her 70+ years of service to Rush University Medical Center and its predecessor institution, Presbyterian Hospital. Mrs. Shorey was president of the Presbyterian Hospital Woman’s board in the mid-1930s and early ‘40s ? overseeing many vital volunteer efforts during World War II. She continued to dedicate herself to Rush’s success over several ensuing decades.
