Jeannette L. Uhrie Strait Endowment Fund for Nursing

The Jeannette L. Uhrie Strait Endowed Scholarship was established in her memory by her husband, Dr. Richard D. Strait, in 2008. A 1960 alumna of the Presbyterian-St.Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Strait was devoted to her alma mater, and generously supported nursing education at Rush over the years as a member of the Golden Lamp Society.

After her passing in 2007, this scholarship was created to remember Mrs. Strait’s commitment to nursing service. For many years, she served as a nurse in a school district near her home in Bourbon, Indiana. She also worked for the State of Indiana as a daycare inspector.
