Malachi J. Flanagan, MD, Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2006 by the late Malachi J. Flanagan, MD. Dr. Flanagan spent his entire career at Rush, where he pioneered research and treatment of bladder and prostate cancers.

In his esteemed career, Dr. Flanagan earned many large federal grant awards for his research and taught hundreds of trainees as a Rush Medical College professor from 1971 to 1999. Among his other accomplishments, Dr. Flanagan was named president of the hospital’s medical staff from 1985 to 1986 and served as acting chair of the Department of Urology.

Until his passing in 2009, Dr. Flanagan remained actively involved with Rush and other charitable organizations throughout Chicago.
