Marion E. Horween Endowed Nursing Scholarship

Marion E. Horween Endowed Nursing Scholarship

The Marion E. Horween Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1991 by the late Arnold Horween Jr. to honor the memory of his mother, Marion E. Horween, a longtime member of the Woman’s Board of Rush University Medical Center and a dedicated volunteer.

Through her involvement with Rush, Mrs. Horween became interested in the nurses and nursing students, often taking homesick nursing students into her own home. Mr. Horween, himself born at Presbyterian Hospital, wanted to honor his mother’s spirit of volunteerism and compassion for others through his generous gift to the College of Nursing.

Mr. Horween passed away in 2003.
