Orpheus Barlow, MD, Scholarship
The Orpheus Barlow Medical Scholarship Fund was established after Dr. Barlow’s passing with a generous gift from his estate. Dr. Barlow was a 1936 graduate of Rush Medical College.
Dr. Barlow’s medical practice was limited; his real interest was biochemistry. He served as the director of research for Winthrop Laboratories, today a subsidiary of Bayer pharmaceuticals. Dr. Barlow was highly involved in research of antibiotics during World War II. He passed away in 1984.
