Stuart Levin, MD, Presidential Chair of Rush University
The Stuart Levin, MD, Presidential Chair was established in 2008 by grateful patients and Rush University leadership to honor Dr. Levin’s legacy as a mentor and teacher.
A leader at Rush for more than 45 years, Dr. Levin was appointed the first-ever director of the Section of Infectious Diseases in 1969 and later chaired the Department of Internal Medicine from 1991 until his retirement in 2012. A nationally-renowned physician and teacher, Dr. Levin was appointed as the first James Lowenstine Professor of Internal Medicine in 1986 and named to the Ralph C. Brown, MD, Chair of Internal Medicine in 1995.
Impact
To support scholarship for students in the Rush Medical College. Restricted for first-year medical students who demonstrate financial need and academic excellence. Scholarships should be renewed on an annual basis.
