The Helen F. O'Brien Endowed Fund for Nursing Education

The Helen F. O’Brien Endowed Fund for Nursing Education was established in 1998 by Dennis O’Brien, MD, in honor of his mother’s 100th birthday. Helen F. O’Brien was a 1925 graduate of Presbyterian School of Nursing, a member of the Golden Lamp Society and Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association.

In 2003 Nursing Spectrum, a respected nursing journal, published an article about Helen as Rush’s oldest living alumna and her many contributions to the field of nursing. She was also featured in the Rush alumni video to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Presbyterian School of Nursing that same year.

This scholarship honors her legacy as a nurse and provides support for students enrolled at Rush University College of Nursing.
