V. Amod Saxena, MD, Endowed Scholarship Fund

The V. Amod Saxena, MD, Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Drs. V. Amod Saxena and S. Dershi Saxena to support students enrolled in Rush Medical College.

Dr. Amod Saxena joined Rush in 1967 as an associate attending and assistant professor of therapeutic radiology and went on to serve as the chair of this department from 1993 to 2003. Dr. Saxena continues to provide care to Rush patients. Dr. Dershi Saxena is a retired anesthesiologist and worked and taught at Rush for a period of time. Their daughter, Leila Saxena, MD, is a graduate of Rush Medical College and practices family medicine.

In the early 1990s, the Saxenas established the Saxena Family Foundation to help prospective medical students in need of financial assistance. Drs. Amod and Dershi Saxena are guided by the strong belief that finances should not hold back a passionate, talented student from pursuing a career in medicine.
